North Mahaska Athletic Boosters is very excited for the community to see the new STATE CHAMPION signs which will be located on the west fence of the athletic complex. These signs were purchased with donations from the community in a campaign which began several years ago. Four signs commemorating state titles in football, boys basketball, boys track and NM Jazz were completed by Scott Hudnutt of Nutt’s Graphics located here in New Sharon. The Boosters would like to thank everyone for their donations towards this project!
NM Athletic Director Steve Ehret and high school Principal Doug Ray are currently working on a new trophy case to be located on the brick wall in the high school entryway. This trophy case would be in addition to the existing trophy case and would provide additional space for all state champion and runner up trophies. Pending fire marshall approval, this case would highlight the accomplishments of all our athletes and provide recognition for outstanding achievements. The Booster club is currently accepting donations for this project and would welcome any contributions. Please contact Steve Ehret or Doug Ray if you would like to help.
Under the direction of Ken Lacey, the home side bleachers in the high school gymnasium have been updated with new bolts. The next time you see Ken, please thank him and his crew of volunteers for helping to keep our fans safe!
The NM Athletic Boosters meets the last Sunday of each month at 5:00 in the high school cafeteria. Please mark your calendar to attend. We welcome your input! |

The North Mahaska Education Foundation would like to remind district patrons there are bricks available for purchase. Your gift of $100 or more allows you to designate etching on one of the bricks which form the inside walls of the main entrance to the elementary. The money from the sale of the bricks support the foundation’s purpose which is “to insure that all students enrolled in the North Mahaska School District are provided the finest possible learning opportunities". Projects funded in the past include:
- the purchase of books to support student reading achievement,
- purchase of digital cameras for student use in projects and teacher use in classroom newsletters and portfolios,
- purchase of video cameras for use in technology projects, and
- purchase of tape recorders and cd players to help in building student’s reading fluency.
For more information you may contact: Jill Walston, President or Angela Livezey, Vice President of the North Mahaska Education Foundation. |
