NM Jazz Off to a Good Start

NM Jazz  took 1st place at Simpson College Jazzfest on Jan. 29, and earned their 24th Division One Rating in a row at State Contest, hosted by Pella  on Jan. 30.

Outstanding Soloists Certificates were awarded to Channing Rooda, piano; Caleb Gipple, bass guitar; Jac Munson, drums;  Melissa Knoot, Alto Sax;  Carly Ehret, flute; and Jacob Bortell, trombone.  

The band’s next competition is at SE Polk performing at 10:10am.

Wednesday - Hat Day (Pay $1 (or more)  to wear a hat for the day and help support the NM supply closet. Details below)

Thursday -  Favorite Sports Team Day

Friday - No School - Show your school spirit at the game!! Crowning of the King and Queen before the Varisty Game.

** The Supply Closet will be a place for students to go if they are in need of school supplies, personal toiletry items, or non-perishable items. This is something new for North Mahaska**

The Student Council will also be selling Crush pop for Valentine's Day for $1.00. The sale will begin on Monday and delivery will happen on Thursday afternoon.  "I've got a CRUSH on you!"

Midwest Elite Camp on June 6-7-8th

Who:  incoming 7th -12th grades, boys (morning session) and girls (afternoon session)

Geography Bee

Recently, students in grades 4-8 participated in the National Geographic Bee.  Through preliminary rounds of competition, two students from each class competed in the championship round to determine North Mahaska’s school champion. 

Winners in each grade:

4th Grade – Lucy Gipple & Easton Korell

5th Grade – Kei Arthur & Ethan Pierce

6th Grade – Garrett Lamb & Livia VanDonselaar

7th Grade – Addy Bollman & Ty Kelderman

8th Grade – Trent Grandia & Paige Layman

Addy Bollman was awarded the school champion and took the online qualifying test February 1, 2016 to be considered for advancement to the State Geographic Bee.
